GEEK SQUAD   |   2016 - 2021

While going to college I needed a way to pay my tuition. I was able to get a part-time job at Geek Squad that would carry me on the rest of my degree. I worked diligently on my studies during the day, and worked at Geek Squad at night.

Geek Squad showed me a number of different technological challenges. From advanced computers builds, entire buisness operations resting on our abilities to fix their computers that they run their buisnesses off of, to some rather unique challenges.

PC BUILDS

There was a number of times where we would get tasked to assemeble an entire computer for a client. This was a very fun part of the job in my opinion and makes for Computer Assembly and organization within a case a lot of fun. I have also thrown in pictures of my own custom builds.

PHONE REPAIRS

Towards the end of my time at Geek Squad, we became Apple Authorized for repairs. Shortly after, we also became Samsung Authorized and could repair Samsung phones. I have replaced, screens, camera, batteries, whole units, entire back glass repairs, etc.

Organizing

Working with several team members at Geek Squad, we constantly would use different chargers. Every person had a different way to put cords back into the bin. Approximately one week after organizing and untangling the cords, they would eventually tangle again and it all turns into one big pile of cables that take 5 minutes to unwrap the one that you need.

Ordering any amount of supplies or organizers would be beyond our managements capabilities, so we had to think outside the box here. I decided to take matters into my own hand and come up with a way to organize the charging cables to prevent the giant blob of cables.

Our chargers would also keep getting taken from other departments. I worked to implement a solution so that we would always have charging for our clients and we could test any number of devices easily without having to hunt down the necessary cable for it. Again, we had limited access to supplies and some creative thinking was needed here lol.

We had also used several different glass protectors during our Apple repairs so again, some ingenuity was necessary here.

We had a HDMI KVM that was stored in a box up in our top stock. We also had a number of HDMI only computers that we needed to repair. I very quickly threw together this setup which lets us put the Desktops either below or above the KVM. The keyboard and mouse is easily accesible at all times.

PROJECT-J

I wanted to have fun with some co-workers. A co-worker kept winning Employee of the Month and they would put their face up. So I ended up printing out his face and hiding it all around the precinct. I'm pretty sure there are still some there to this day. He said he was okay with it and laughed about it. I also helped him take most of them down.

We eventually had to take down the one behind the black flaps since clients would think that someone is there staring back at them.

MUSIC   |   2012 - TODAY

While browsing YouTube after school one day, I stumbled upon an old school hip hop producer. I had found that they were able to make music on their computer. I really liked the videos they made and when I had learned that they could do that from their home without a studio, I was astonished.

They had a keyboard that plugged in through USB to their computer and were able to control a complex software (at that time) to make the keyboard sound like anything. I immediately began searching the web on how I could do the same thing. Limewire and a multitude of other torrenting sites later, I obtained a copy of Reason.

Almost immediately my creative side flourished with the new potential to be able to make any music I wanted. The same music that I grew up listening to and loving. I started spending my days at school doing Graffiti and School work, so when I got home I had the evening to work on my new found music projects.

These songs were bad. I mean.. really bad. I ended up getting comfortable with Reason and learning about time signatures, music theory, sound design, and way way more.

Eventually.. it started to not be so bad. I say this humbly because music is subjective, but I would say that I started to like listening to the new music I was able to create. I immediately created an album and began handing it out to everyone I know in school on a CD.

After my first album flopped, I created Est Profundum. Which in my opinion started the real music journey I found myself in. I started looking for DJ'ing opportunities and looked for ways to reach out to bigger producers. I would livestream my music creation process on Twitch.tv and chat with all of the chatters about music.

I started looking for upgrades for better speakers and equipment and was able to make the setup you see below. I hosted a giveaway of my album and was able to mail out a few hundred copies to everyone who entered the contest.

I found ways to get my music onto the major music sites like Apple Music, Spotify, and more. It was a really exciting time in my life since I was now making money from the same hobby that let me pour all of my creative ability into.

I was able to make a few music videos which taught me about video production, camera equipment, and much more.

SPEAKER STANDS

During my time with music, I realized I wanted a better sound setup. For an appropriate sound setup, you ideally wanted a stand that was separate from your desk to hold the monitors. Then you would want the room dampened and the speakers pointing at an angle towards the listeners ears. The cost for just one of these stands can go for well over 100 dollars (at-least when I was shopping around back then). Sound dampening could run you upwards of 1000's of dollars to treat a single room. That idea was immediately scrapped.. but the stands I could do.

I have always wanted to get into wood working and this seemed like the perfect project to break into that. I spent 40 bucks in lumber and supplies and began making some simple 2x4 speaker stands. They didn't need to be exact and just needed to hold the speakers and angle them down which ended up being perfect for my use case. With some sanding, some finishing oil, and a protective clear coat on top, I was able to make a very nice looking speaker stands for my setup.

I made them taller like this because I wanted more monitors for my computer setup. Putting the speakers wider apart was possible but after a certain point it gets to be too much. So I opted to make the stands go above the monitors and angle down which worked well for this setup.

GRAFFITI   |   2009

When I was in school I used to draw doodles. Starting from characters from TV shows, I kept getting bored in school and used drawing to keep myself pre-occupied. When the doodles got boring, I branched out to other types of doodling and drawing. I stumbled onto Graffiti and began filling up my old school agenas and planners with pieces.

I started asking my parents for sketch books and drawing pads to make larger and more complex pieces. Friends began asking me to draw their names or a name for their friend and it just kinda grew from there. I would draw for hours during and after school. These are a few pictures I had available when making this. I will try to find more since I know I still have them.
